Ripple is elevating custody to the forefront of digital finance, positioning it as the critical enabler of stablecoin adoption, tokenized asset expansion, regulatory assurance, and advanced programmable infrastructure that could reshape global markets.<\/p>\n

On August 18, Ripple released new insights highlighting the pivotal role custody plays for institutions transitioning into the tokenized economy. During a workshop co-hosted with the Blockchain Association Singapore (BAS), the company illustrated how custody has advanced beyond a mere technical function to become a foundational layer of financial infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The session, themed “Custody & Cybersecurity<\/a>,\u201d emphasized that secure and resilient custody solutions are indispensable for scaling stablecoin ecosystems, reinforcing compliance frameworks, and facilitating cross-border settlement networks.<\/p>\n

Ripple further pointed to the surging demand for tokenized real-world assets as a catalyst for this transformation. According to joint research from Ripple and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the market for such assets is projected to expand significantly\u2014reaching nearly **US $18.9 trillion by 2033.<\/p>\n

Ripple\u2019s 2025 New Value Report revealed that confidence in digital assets is gaining traction across the Asia-Pacific region, with 71% of financial institutions reporting stronger trust over the past six months.<\/p>\n

Despite this momentum, adoption of custody platforms remains limited\u2014only 30% currently rely on them. However, an additional 52% of institutions plan to implement custody solutions within the next three years, signaling a significant shift in infrastructure priorities.<\/p>\n

During its recent workshop, Ripple and industry participants examined the wide spectrum of custody models\u2014ranging from fully self-managed systems to outsourced and hybrid approaches\u2014each tailored to evolving regulatory demands, liquidity strategies, and institutional risk appetites.<\/p>\n

A recurring theme was the need for custody platforms to move beyond simple asset safeguarding toward driving operational innovation. Experts emphasized that solutions spanning self-custody, third-party providers, or hybrid frameworks will be crucial for scaling stablecoin adoption, tokenized finance, and global settlement networks.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, participants stressed that next-generation custody must integrate more deeply with smart contracts and tokenized documents tied to real-world, off-chain conditions. Such capabilities will be vital not only for programmable payments but also for enabling complete on-chain execution of trade flows, conditional settlements, and automated compliance.<\/p>\n
