Fundstrat even lost clients because of his stance.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, Bitcoin was hovering near $1,000, still dismissed by many as a speculative toy or a tool for criminals.<\/p>\n<p>But Lee\u2019s conviction aged remarkably well.<\/p>\n<p>Now, he\u2019s back with another bold bet.<\/p>\n<p>This time, his focus isn\u2019t Bitcoin\u2014it\u2019s Ethereum.<\/p>\n<p>And he\u2019s making that bet not as an analyst, but as chairman of Bitmine Immersion Technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The company just scooped up 833,000 ETH in its first month, closing in on ownership of nearly 1% of all Ethereum in circulation.<\/p>\n<p>Their long-term goal? Control 5% of the total ETH supply\u2014roughly $20 billion at current prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re moving 12x faster than MicroStrategy did with Bitcoin,\u201d Lee says. \u201cEthereum treasuries aren\u2019t just ETFs\u2014they\u2019re infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, what exactly does he mean by that? Built on Ethereum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Beyond \u201cBuy and Hold\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>MicroStrategy made history with a simple formula: buy Bitcoin, hold Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Lee believes Ethereum treasuries can play a much bigger game\u2014with far more levers to pull.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what sets ETH apart:<\/p>\n<p>Native yield: Staking ETH pays roughly 3% annually. On a $3 billion stash, that\u2019s hundreds of millions in recurring income\u2014without selling a single token.<\/p>\n<p>Scarcity: If Bitmine locks up 5% of Ethereum\u2019s total supply, that\u2019s 5% permanently removed from circulation.<\/p>\n<p>Velocity: Measured by how quickly assets are added per share. MicroStrategy has averaged ~16 cents of BTC per share per day across four years. Bitmine, by contrast, is stacking up to $1 in ETH\u2014compounding far faster.<\/p>\n<p>Liquidity: With $1.6B in daily trading volume (comparable to Uber) and only a $4B market cap, Bitmine can raise fresh capital quickly and cheaply.<\/p>\n<p>Demand-side integration: Holding ETH and validating the network means direct access to Ethereum\u2019s settlement layer. From there, new revenue streams open up\u2014fees from oracles, sequencers, hosting, and more. Once again, the outlier view was vindicated.<\/p>\n<p>Even gold went through the same journey. For decades after the U.S. abandoned the gold standard, it was still treated as an industrial commodity. It wasn\u2019t until the 1970s\u2014thanks to voices like Jim Sinclair, \u201cMr. Gold\u201d\u2014that investors began pricing it as a global monetary hedge.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum, says Tom Lee, is now at a similar crossroads. The right question isn\u2019t \u201cWhat\u2019s the crypto story of the week?\u201d but rather:<\/p>\n<p>How much of the network\u2019s productive capacity do you own?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What yield does it throw off?<\/li>\n<li>How quickly can you scale that share?<\/li>\n<li>How liquid is your position?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That\u2019s the same framework Wall Street already uses to value pipelines, power grids, or telecom networks: scarce assets, income-producing, nearly impossible to replicate.<\/p>\n<p>Seen this way, Ethereum is the global settlement layer. Solana could be the high-speed rails. DePIN projects represent the physical access points. Even governance tokens, long dismissed as fluff, take on real value if they control infrastructure with durable cash flows.<\/p>\n<p>The meme era won\u2019t vanish\u2014this is still the internet, after all.
