At the heart of the dispute was Trump\u2019s proposed<\/a> \u201crare earths deal,\u201d which sought access to Ukraine\u2019s critical minerals in exchange for a defense pact. Zelenskyy ultimately rejected the offer, citing vague terms regarding U.S. commitments to securing Ukraine\u2019s borders and ending Russia\u2019s invasion.<\/p>\n

Following Trump\u2019s outburst, a White House official stated that he felt slighted by Zelenskyy\u2019s remarks and demeanor but left the door open for a future signing, should Ukraine reconsider.
