Trump Arrives in Alaska Ahead of Putin Talks on Ukraine

U.S. President Donald Trump has arrived in Alaska for a high-stakes meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss a potential peace deal in the Russia–Ukraine conflict. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not expected to attend.

Reports suggest Trump may propose granting Russia access to rare earth minerals in exchange for a ceasefire—a surprising move given his past concerns about foreign influence over U.S. resources. He also expressed optimism about the talks, while emphasizing he would walk away if progress stalls.

Meanwhile, Washington is reportedly considering new sanctions targeting Russian energy giants Rosneft and Lukoil if negotiations fail to produce results.
